After 3 years of successfully operating the first-of-its-kind custom wetsuit model, Carapace Custom Wetsuits will rebrand as 7TILL8 Wetsuits. As a direct to consumer retailer, the company has gained valuable insights about their customer demographic and the new brand reflects their dedication to the specific product needs of their audience.
7TILL8 references “glass off”, the hour before sunset when winds settle and the ocean becomes ‘glassy’. This is the ideal time for surfers and divers to hit the water and perform to their best abilities without any hindrance. The 7TILL8 wetsuit strives to reduce any unnecessary distractions during this peak hour.
“We’re rebranding to 7TILL8 in order to create the perfect fit wetsuit for each owner,” said 7TILL8 Founder Andrew Park. “The name represents our desire for each person to enjoy their experience in the water and maximize their potential without distraction.”
7TILL8 creates their handcrafted custom wetsuits using a proprietary algorithm, based on 12-13 measurement points that customers submit during checkout. The measurement process takes an estimated 10-15 minutes. 7TILL8 provides easy instructional videos to help customers self-measure from home, and can send measurement tape and/or additional support on request. Residents in Southern California are also welcome to get measured at the 7TILL8 headquarters.
As each wetsuit is created by hand, customers can expect to receive their wetsuit 21 days after placing an order. US shipping is complimentary and an additional $50 is required for international shipping.
"It's a misconception that our customer base caters to only those that cannot fit into the current retail size options. In fact, most surfers and divers are in between sizes and will discover imperfections in fit,” said Andrew. “When it comes to the ocean, anything short of a perfect fit can mean huge consequences in comfort and performance."
7TILL8 will also look to build on their surf & dive community by offering new product features and content with this demographic in mind.
